So, lately I've been studying a few stuff about modeling on mudbox and about uv's and retopology to understand how most artists develop their workflow. This was done to try and play with mudbox's tools like sculpt and paint layers, bump maps, real time texturing, psd channel, ambient occlusion, etc. I kinda tried every single mudbox button this time hahaha. But the hardest task was creating the uv's... My first time at uv unwrapping on a complex mesh so I still have a lot to improve (on every aspect really, not only uvs).
Took me 3 hours modeling (started with a cube) a whole day studying uv's, and another studying retopo techiniques. I didn't sculpt its back further and could fix a few things about the paint on its face but I have to go back to the samurai
do you think i can figure out the software on my own? i'm good with computers and i can easily work the whole day on a project without getting tired or bored, how long did it take you to understand 3d sculpting? i've got a wacom cintuiq screen and a macbook.
You could do very well on your own using just the quickstart tips from mudbox itself. I leant it myself, took me about one month to learn every tool. I recommend you take some time to read about 3d modeling first (how polygons are formed, about vertex, face and edges, uv's, etc) and try to fiddle with maya basic polygon modeling. That way you'll have total control over your models and will be ready to work with 3d modeling comes the chance.
I suggest you download mudbox and try it, it's UI is very easy and straightforward, if you are good with softwares you'll handle it like a breeze.
but how can you upload mudbox turntable animations?
